The Stars and the Solar System poster

Buckle up! In this 45-minute interactive live planetarium show, you and your kids will see learn about the constellations and the planets in our solar system.

We'll start by seeing the sky from Montréal. Your kids will see the animals in the sky.

Then we'll lift of from Earth and fly out to visit the planets and beyond.

The Dome

The show takes place inside of a 6-meter inflatable dome. There are 10 bean bag chairs.

I am going to have 5 adult and 10 children tickets available for this show.

What Your Kids Will Learn

  • how stars make "shapes" in the sky
  • names of the "shapes" and "animals" up in the sky
  • constellations of different sky cultures (Inuit, Arabic, Romanian)
  • kids choose where we go in the solar system! (planets, moons, galaxies, black holes, etc..)

Your kid has a question? Bring it and I'll try to answer it visually in the dome!

FAQ

White Wall Studio is located in the Plateau, just a few minutes walk from Mont-Royal metro station. Here's a Google Map.

It's recommended to take public transportation, as parking in this area is difficult and there is no visitor parking directly outside the venue.

The venue is located on Av. Laval, just off Mont-Royal Ave. It might look like you're walking into a back alley, but you're on the right track!

The door will be unlocked. Please enter quietly.

Unfortunately, this event is not wheelchair accessible. It's highly recommended to go to the Montréal Planetarium for wheelchair accessible planetarium shows.

Inside of the planetarium dome are bean bag chairs for sitting. If you need a normal chair, please email info@plateauastro.com in advance.

The show will have visuals with motion that can cause discomfort in some people. The host will do their best to avoid this during the show.

This show is recommended for ages 5 - 10 years old.

I am doing this same show in French at 2:30 PM. Here's the link.

Most planetarium shows are pre-recorded videos played on the dome. And they're awesome!

But this show is different: all the software is controlled live as I walk you through the show. There is a script and major concepts I need to teach, but it is open to your suggestions.

Think of it like a road trip: I'm driving the family van, and if we see an interesting roadside attraction, maybe we'll make stop? I'll judge if it's the right moment to teach that, but we might stop by there on the way back "home".

All the software used is open source and free to use. So when you get home, you can load it up yourself and re-experience some of the show.
