Night Sky & Constellations Tour

Montréal Portable Planetarium Show

Get familiar with our night sky and what we see here on Earth.

Adapted to age levels, we'll learn how the stars make "shapes" in the sky and how ancients of all cultures made stories of the heavens.

Show Outline

This show is designed to last 25 minutes. It can be adapted for different grade levels

  • students enter the dome
  • we see a daytime sky with a bright Sun
  • as the Earth rotates we see the Sun set and the sky darkens
  • we see points of light in the sky: stars
  • some of these stars appear to make simple shapes, which the ancients noticed
  • we turn on constellation lines and artwork, and describe some of the stories of the Western constellation map
  • we turn on a different constellation map, to show that different cultures created their own stories
  • students exit the dome
