April 8th, 2024, is a date that will live long in the memory of Montréal. This postcard 6-pack humorously relives the big and small events leading up to the solar eclipse, and the moment of totality.

This project is a collaboration between Plateau Astro and Montréal illustrator, Gabriel Sabourin (@haute.vitesse).

Let's take a look at each of the MTL Solar Eclipse Stories:

#1: Eclipse Exodus to Montréal

To get the full solar eclipse experience, you needed to be in the path of totality. In a twist of tate, the path cut through Montréal and missed Laval entirely.

#2: Fake Eclipse Glasses

Fraud! As the eclipse neared, buyers had to be vigilant against buying counterfeit eclipse glasses and rapidly get familiar with the arcane code "ISO 12312-2"

#3: Eclipse Gameplan

Depending where you were in Montréal, you could get anywhere from only seconds to almost 2 minutes of eclipse totality time. Some of us were overly strategic.

#4: Eclipse Traffic Jam

Before, during, and after the eclipse, traffic in Montréal came to a standstill. Even the underground metros were not spared.

#5: Weather Luck

Against all historical odds and turbulent snowy weather just days before, the sky was mostly clear on the day of the eclipse in Montréal on April 8, 2024.

#6: Montréal Landmarks

The total eclipse could be seen alongside many Montréal landmarks, including the Olympic Stadium Mont Royal, and the Biosphère.
